The Apostles Creed
We believe in God, the Father Almighty,
the Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
The third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen.
We hope to work ecumenically and therefore acknowledge that as individual followers of Jesus Christ we do not hold the exact same beliefs as each other, let alone different churches. To address this acknowledgment we would like to state that we believe our specific theologies are important but emphasize in our consulting that each churches own youth workers will be doing the primary teaching to students.
In order to provide a little further thought on the subject all Faith Sowers Ministry Associates do affirm that we are participating in God’s story as understood in the Bible. We believe this story renders the following telling:
- Chapter 1: Creation (God calls creation into being)
- Chapter 2: Crisis and Corruption (Unsatisfied with being “the image” of God and with his limits, we take more)
- Chapter 3: Calling (God calls out people to intervene in the crisis and bring blessings to all peoples)
- Chapter 4: Conversation (Called to be God’s people they must engage their Creator)
- Chapter 5: Christ (The incarnate son atones for human sin and calls people to join him in his mission to heal, save, and reconcile all creation through love)
- Chapter 6: Church (The creation of a community that would embody Jesus’ way of living)
- Chapter 7: Consummation (The reconciliation of all things in Jesus and the final realization of God’s kingdom)
